Frank Hettick Space and Astronomical Art
Frank Hettick (1937-2011) is an experienced space artist who strives to achieve photorealism in his artwork. His unique photo-realistic space art, or as he calls it Out-Of-This-World Art, can be experienced in person in art galleries and at his personal Sky-High Gallery and Studio in Crooked River Ranch, Oregon. Frank Hettick is a member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA), The Mars Society, The National Space Society, and The Planetary Society. In 2004 he won First Place in The Mars Society International Art Competition. In 2005 he was awarded First Place in the joint Planetary Society-European Space Agency (ESA) International Art Competition to depict the Cassini-Huygen space probe landing on Titan, a moon of Saturn.
Artist says: "My approach to space art revolves around what I myself believe the exploration of space ‘should have been’ rather than what it has really turned out to be. In fact, several other space artists have termed my style as being retro-space art."
Below are some examples of Frank Hettick's original space paintings. Please visit the Sky-High Gallery for more information.
